Indoor Facilities
The Mount St. Helens Institute invites you to join us at the Science and Learning Center for classes, conferences, retreats, and other events.
Overlooking Coldwater Lake, this spectacular building in the heart of the blast zone offers groups of all sorts the exclusive opportunity to gather, learn, and be inspired in the shadow of Mount St. Helens. The building is approximately 11,000 square feet and is divided into multiple rooms.
Our rental options are ideal for school and education groups of all ages, lunches, retreats, trainings, and other events. Our onsite manager will help you manage your event, big or small. Revenue from Science and Learning Center rentals support youth science education programs and building maintenance.
LOCATION
The Science and Learning Center is conveniently located between Seattle and Portland off I-5, on State Route 504.

DINING OPTIONS
Groups may cook their own food, have buffet-style meals provided, or contract directly with a catering company.
The Mount St. Helens Institute can provide a limited menu of delicious buffet-style meals from our in-house kitchen starting at $7/meal. We are happy to accommodate most dietary restrictions with advanced notice. If you plan to be hiking or out and about all day, you can even pack your lunch to go! Coffee and tea service is available for your meeting or conference.
GROUP OVERNIGHTS
With over 11,000 square feet of space, the Science and Learning Center can comfortably sleep 60 people. There are 8 bunk beds and 10 beds for a total number of 26 beds. Additional people can bring air mattresses, camping pads, or cots for indoor camping.
Outdoor accommodations are also available in our primitive field camp area for education groups only.

- LARGE CONFERENCE OR SLEEPING ROOM A large wall-mounted projector screen, windows with views of Mount St. Helens, and plenty of space make this an ideal place to host an event or have a slumber party

- SMALL TRIANGLE CLASSROOM: A projector screen, large flat screen TV, a sink, and moveable tables provide a great place for education or small events up to 25 people

- THEATER: The theater with 24 seats and audio visual is ideal for lectures or for showing films. The projector is connected to a DVD player and speakers
