Research Opportunities
Applying for a Permit for Research or Media Access
The Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument welcomes scientists and encourages new research. The monument issues permits to scientists from accredited institutions for entry into areas closed to off-trail travel and to authorize collection of rocks and other materials. We also provide permits to accredited media representatives to enter closed areas and accompany scientists to remote research sites.
